About Utility Benches Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, free-weight lifting continues to be a popular option for home strength training. Free weights offer a special benefit in strength training because they promote quicker strength gains. Free weights also work a larger number of muscles than resistance machines, which tend to focus on isolated muscles. Specially-designed adjustable pads, grips, and bars help limit and guide movements to minimize the possibility of muscle or joint damage. Plus, from a single utility bench, a vast number of exercises can be performed. Whether it is focusing on the abdomen, arms, chest, or any other muscle group, a utility bench can help you maximize your strength training goals while minimizing your risk of personal injury.

Great bench for the price. November 11, 2007 This was the best quality bench for its price range that I have found online. It's pretty solid and easy to work with. The only down side is that it does not raise to an upright position for doing exercises like shoulder press. For the price, however, this is an excellent starter bench.
Durable equipment for a good value September 13, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great bench at a great value. It arrived rapidly, all the parts were there and the instructions were good. Assembly took about an hour. Its great for various dumbell exercises. Overall, I am extremely happy with this product. I would also now consider purchasing other Marcy products. My only dissappointment is I was hoping to use the decline setting for setups, but its a little rough on my knees.
Solid Bench for the Price August 25, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good stable bench that's relatively easy to put together. I didn't have the problems with the pin that other people did though i suspect they may have put the rod for the pin in backwards (it's not very clear in the instructions). Gave it a 4 because as other people mentioned, it can't go vertical for military presses etc though I was kind of already expecting that. Also foot positioning can get a bit awkward for some exercises on decline though this may just be because I am a bit tall.
good bench for the price May 16, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought the bench using amazon's free shipping. Took only a week to deliver. Product was easy to assemble. Took me a few hours to complete. I was watching TV at the time, if I wasnt it would of taken about 1.5 hours to finish. Seems to be sturdy. I like the wheels on one end, and handle on the other end. My only complaint it's not a fully vertically military press.
