BEST DURABLE STEPPER - GREAT SUPPORT July 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As an E.R. Doc who also teaches Martial Arts, I have purchased SIX of these GAIAM steppers. They are the only portable steppers that can take a full Hour of stepping, with no problem! Also, anytime I have called their customer service, they have promptly replaced a snapped cord or timer, with no delays or charges! A Great company! Dr. J. Gerber, Los Angeles
NEVER BUY THIS STEPPER December 28, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Cable wore out in 2 months. I got a replacement. But the damn cable wore out again in a couple of months....NEVER buy this piece of junk!
Durable and compact May 17, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've owned this system for approximately a year, and it's handled a great deal of stepping without any problems. I also inadvertently dropped it on a tile floor while moving it to another location, and was relieved to find that there wasn't any resultant damage. Although it's not the most aesthetically-pleasing stepper available (it's obvious where parts were welded together), it provides an intense workout and can then be easily stored. Overall, this stepper has been a great value for the money. (One note: given my positive experience, I purchased this product as a gift for a family member, and she has a far easier time maintaining her balance if she's *not* using the resistance cords. If you don't like them, simply let them rest at the sides of the machine while doing your workout.)
Good work-out, shoddy construction March 19, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I gave one of these to my wife for Christmas 2005. She used it 3 or 4 times a week for about a year until it broke. Specifically, the weld that connects the axle to the frame broke. My wife is not a heavy person -- 120 lbs. max. So I echo what other reviewers have said: this product is not built to last. I called Gaiam and asked for a replacement, they said no.
Broke after only about two months!! July 25, 2006 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
I bought this because I wanted a stepper that I could use and then easily put away. It worked pretty well for about two months. I was using it three or four days a week for about 20 minutes each time. Today, I was using it as usual and the cable that makes the steps go up and down suddenly snapped. I'm an average sized woman and way below the suggested maximum weight for it. I'm really disappointed in this stepper. I may contact the company for a new cable but I'm not sure I want to keep using this thing if it's going to break again.
