Amazon.com Product Description Forget the gimmicks and build a powerful physique with this Everlast multifunction chinning bar--one of the tried-and-true cornerstones of fitness. A chinning bar uses your body's own resistance to create maximum impact where it counts most, such as the pecs, biceps, abs, and obliques. The multifunction bar sets up pretty much anywhere, including in a doorway, against a wall, or on the ground. When installed in the doorway, the chinning bar lets you perform pull-ups and chin-ups, so you can create a strong back and muscular biceps in no time. When on the ground, the bar's comfort grips make pushups more effective than ever, helping you build a strong, defined chest and sculpted triceps. Finally, you can rest the bar against a wall, where it holds your feet for sit-ups and other ab work. And best of all for people who want a versatile workout, the bar offers multiple grip positions that allow you to work muscles from several different angles. A great foundation for any training regimen, the Everlast multifunction chinning bar adjusts to fit doorways up to 32 inches across. Don't waste your money January 9, 2009 I will never use this. The bar that wedges against the opposite side above the door is a piece of wood with abrasive tape to "grab" the wall. I grabs it alright. It's just a nice piece of sandpaper that will ruin your wall and paint. A rubber or foam covered piece of steel would work much better. Thank goodness the room with the door I tried it out on was already scheduled for repainting. My wife threw a fit when she saw the black scuff marks left above the door.
Whole family uses it every day...multiple grip points especially good January 7, 2009 They aren't all just the same. Great "build quality." Very easy to assemble. Even easier to use. Strength improvements easy to track. Just get one. You'll be glad you did.
Gets the Job Done January 4, 2009 I have had the bar for about 2 months. It a little while to get the pieces together maybe 30min or an hour. The wooden bar will nick your paint but nothing a little touch up paint won't fix. My only suggestion is the two bars that go on the door, put a piece of cardboard or something similar between the trim and the bar. If not it will dent the jamb and leave a black mark from the bar.
Decent but a littly messy December 27, 2008 Assembling this product requires tools. We couldn't use a regular wrench because the bolts are an awkward size and instead had to use an adjustable ratchet.
The wooden piece that props up against the top of the door has an abrasive strip of sandpaper (??) on it. This gets worn very easily - I'm 220lb and only did 2 sets and there is already a place where it scratched a bit.
The product works best on doors and door frames with moldings, because they don't leave much room for it to slip. The problem with this is that they will dent and scratch up your frames. So I'd recommend attaching your own bar in the basement or somewhere else in your house over using this product if you own your home.
Good - but the loose screws confuse you. December 16, 2008 The product is really good. Strong, sturdy and very comfortable to use. Works with most doorframes. My only useable doorframe is a bit low - so i have to fold my legs upwards to do my pull-ups, but it is still fine. While installing it - you may get confused, the screw are bigger than they should be - so the whole frame (parts put together) will be loose. Not sure if this is the way it was originally designed, but it does confuse you if you could have possibly got a defective piece. This however does not affect your workout in any way once you mount it. Overall - a good product - worth the money.
