Amazon.com Product Description Rowing has long been recognized as the perfect aerobic pursuit, with naturally smooth and flowing movements that don't tax the joints but do boost the heart rate. Now you can take your rowing experience to the next level with the WaterRower Natural rowing machine. Using the same principles that govern the dynamics of a boat in water, the WaterRower Natural is outfitted with a "water flywheel" that consists of two paddles in an enclosed tank of water that provide smooth, quiet resistance, just like the paddles in an actual body of water. As a result, the machine has no moving parts that can wear out over time (even the recoil belt and pulleys don't require lubricating or maintaining). More significantly, the water tank and flywheel create a self-regulating resistance system that eliminates the need for a motor. As with real rowing, when you paddle faster, the increased drag provides more resistance. When you paddle slower, the resistance is less intense. The only limit to how fast you can row is your strength and your ability to overcome drag. And unlike conventional rowing machines, which tend to be jerky and jarring, the WaterRower Natural is remarkably smooth and fluid. From a fitness perspective, the WaterRower Natural works 84 percent of your muscle mass, helping tone and strengthen your muscles while burning far more calories than most other aerobic machines. The exercise is also low impact, as it removes all the body weight from the ankles, knees, and hips, but still moves the limbs and joints through a full range of motion--from completely extended to completely contracted. The WaterRower Natural is handcrafted in solid ash and stained honey oak for consistency of color. The wood was chosen due to its marvelous engineering properties, especially its ability to absorb sound and vibration, which enhances the WaterRower's quiet performance and smooth operation. Ash, like all woods used in the construction of the WaterRower, is a premium hardwood with incredible longevity and dimensional stability. In addition, the wood is harvested from replenishable forests and is hand finished with Danish oil to provide a deep luster. Other details include dual rails with four corner wheels that increase seat stability and reduce the amount of sweat buildup; a frame that flips upright for handy storage; and a weight capacity of up to 1,000 pounds. The WaterRower Natural measures 84 by 21 by 22 inches (W x H x D), weighs 117 pounds (with water), and carries a one-year warranty on the frame and components (WaterRower will upgrade the warranty to five years on the frame and three years on the components with the completion of a registration form).

The WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine has been designed to set it apart from other fitness equipment. Featuring an attention to detail unseen in other exercise equipment. The WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine has been made to a quality point not a price point. While they could make it cheaper, it simply would not be as good, and customers expect the best not the cheapest. In replicating the dynamics of rowing so accurately, the WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine is unrivalled in replicating not only the superb physiological dynamics of rowing, but much of the aesthetic pleasure as well.
Clutch - The smoothness of the WaterRower Natural in Ash's motion is produced by a sprag clutch that engages instantaneously, unlike other clutches that produce a jerky or jarring impact somewhere during the stroke. Silent Action - Because the patented WaterFlywheel replicates the same physical dynamics as rowing, its operation is just as silent. Tank - The tank of the WaterRower Natural in Ash is formed from polycarbonate, one of the strongest plastics available, making it virtually indestructible. The tank is sealed and can be filled with municipal water via a small opening closed by a stopper. Variable Resistance - The benefit of a water resistance rower is that it most closely emulates a boat moving through water. Like rowing, the connection is fluid. 280 lb User Capacity DIMENSIONS: 83"L x 22"W x 21"H
WARRANTY: Wooden Components - 5 Years Other Components - 3 Years
Optional Extended Warranty covers both parts and labor.

Delivery was a problem September 29, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I haven't even gotten this home, yet, but that's my problem due to the delivery specifying that an in-person signature is required. Not knowing this, I had it delivered at home where I've had about 100 packages left, including items larger and more expensive than this, with no problems. Since I work for a living and can't hang around all day awaiting delivery, I switched the delivery to my workplace. The problem now is that the thing is so big that it'll never fit in my car. Be forewarned that Amazon will make accepting delivery of this item a problem for most people. WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood
Great Rower! June 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had my rower for about four years now. It has held up very well. This truly is a quality product. Much smoother than other rowers I've tried and the swoosh of the water is very nice. I would definitely buy this rower again... I just wish I could have found mine for this price...I paid almost twice this!!!
Great machine - shame about the after-sales service. May 14, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The waterrower is a great machine with the smooth motion removing the jerking present in other machines. If you are using third party software to analyse your training you may find that it does not work with later models of the machine. I decided to give mine a spruce-up and ordered about $20 of parts online. I cancelled the order when Waterrower quoted $148 postage!
Excellent Rowing Machine March 31, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Efficient and sturdy design, excellent workmanship, and beautiful enough to consider it a piece of furniture. I expect this machine to be a heirloom. Perhaps if my wife and I use it as I hope, that will be a longer time from now. I would like an easier system to adjust the water level in the tank. I have no regrets and if you have read the description and are interested, you will not be disappointed.
