Amazon.com Product Description
Get serious about your strength training at home with the Bowflex Xceed home gym, which includes a lat tower, squat station, leg attachment and adjustable pulley system for over 65 gym-quality exercises. It comes standard with 310 pounds of real Power Rod resistance. The integrated lat tower with angled lat bar helps to build back and shoulder muscles quickly. The upper and lower pulley/squat station enables you to do squats and build your gluts, hamstrings and quads. The Xceed also has multiple cable/pulley positions for custom workouts.

With the included abs attachment, you'll be able to perform ab crunch exercises like in the gym. Advanced engineering allows you to get great results fast by specifically targeting abdominal and core muscles, and it also works great for lower back extension exercises. A locking mechanism allows easy in, easy out access, and a foam chest pad provides large, comfortable area to push on.

The leg extension/leg curl attachment rivals specialized leg equipment found in gyms, and will help you develop strong, muscular legs. Efficient and easy to use, the leg attachment connects easily, and can be removed in seconds for using the squat station.

The Xceed Plus utilizes Bowflex's patented Power Rods, which provide resistance, or weight, that feels as good as or better than free weights--but without the inertia or risk of joint pain usually associated with free weights.
The Xceed utilizes Bowflex's patented Power Rods, which provide resistance, or weight, that feels as good as or better than free weights--but without the inertia or risk of joint pain usually associated with free weights. You can hook one, two, three, four or all of your Power Rod units to the cable pulley system and go from as little as 5 pounds all the way up to 310 pounds of resistance.

They're precisely manufactured from a high-tech composite material under the highest quality control measures, then sheathed and tested 4 separate times to ensure quality and durability. The Power Rod units are so strong, you can flex them repeatedly but you won't be able to wear them out. In fact, they're so strong, Bowflex backs them with its No-Time-Limit Warranty free replacement offer.

About Home Gyms
While offering the convenience of working out in the comfort and privacy of your own home, home gyms also allow you to focus on specific routines without having to wait in line or switch between a complex array of machines. In addition to improving strength, power, coordination, and muscular endurance, weight training can enhance weight reduction, enhance the immune and cardiovascular systems, and help prevent injuries. In general, home gym machines are compact units designed to strengthen and exercise many parts of the body. While no single home gym can provide a complete strength training solution, they are a convenient way to combine many exercises into a single unit. Some home gyms focus exclusively on upper-body workouts, while other, more advanced units focus on upper- and lower-body conditioning.

5 out of 5 stars Get in shape fast & easy!!   August 31, 2008
My husband bought the same Xceed Plus model at Costco in Kona, Hawaii for the same price earlier this year. He wanted a Bowflex for years, which I always discouraged because I was very skeptical. Thanks to him making the decision to buy this model, I now understand that it really works! We are so thrilled with the fast & easy results of weight loss and muscle gain. He lost 60 lbs and I lost 40 lbs by healthy eating habits and using this Bowflex every other day for 4 months. We're retired baby-boomers and love this Bowflex model (there are many to choose from). We are so thrilled and impressed by following the weight loss recommended program of 8-10 exercises with one set of 12 reps every other day, that we purchased the same model Xceed Plus (no longer available at Costco) which we luckilly found on Amazon.com; this same one for our son and daughter-in-law. The exercises are easy and not "grunt work" like using universal or free weights. This model comes with an Ab attachment and Leg flexor attachment, which gets results after continued use. Another advantage of this model is that the weight may be easily increased, if you want to purchase the added rods later. If you've ever wanted a Bowflex, this model is highly recommended. It has everything and you can't beat the price. It takes up approximately 7 x 6 ft area. You'll need to put it together--which took my husband an afternoon to do. Changing the weights on the rods takes a little getting used to, but don't be discouraged, you'll quickly get used to it. Also, the instruction book lacks good instruction for knob placement. Follow a program of your choice in the booklet and record the weight & knob placements for each exercise. This makes it simple to keep track of your progress and do the same exercises, in the same way, every other day.

2 out of 5 stars Big Disappointment   August 30, 2008

I have had this product about a week and I am very disappointed. This is a well built product, but it is an erector set gadget. It requires patch cables, and clips, and straps, and hand grips, and you have to keep up with and deal with all this stuff. The constant process of switching cables and reconfiguring the machine is a big waste of time, and a real irritation. The ab attachment is not useful given it will only use the rods on one side, so there is minimal resistance. The included lumbar pad is designed for the Xtreme model and won't stay in position on the back rest on the Xceed, it just keeps sliding off. If you look at the pictures of the ab unit you will see it is not on an Xceed, but rather Xtreme. Plus you have to go through a 2 minute process to remove the seat assembly and replace it with this clunky ab unit each time you want to use it. Save yourself the trouble, if you want a Bowflex with this space saving design go buy the Xtreme 2 that does not require the constant cable changes. I have seen the Xtreme 2 on sale for $100 more than the Xceed, and for $100 more you can add the 100 pounds of resistance. It also comes with ab shoulder straps that allow you to use all the power rods while doing crunches. The extra $200 will save you hours of frustration.

4 out of 5 stars As good as it gets for the price   July 25, 2008

We've had this gym for about three weeks now. It's def not like working out in a gym. I have not worked out in several years, just had a baby but somehow on this machine I can do 100lbs when doing bicep curls! Something doesn't seem right there. I could never do more than 30lbs at the gym.

Overall I am satisfied with the bowflex. It takes a few tries to get used to switching the cords around for your workout, but after you get it you'll be switching around with ease. My husband however is not completely satisfied with the bowflex because of the weight lifting. It's fine for me because I am not trying to bench press 300 plus pounds. So if you are into heavy lifting this may not be the machine for you.

5 out of 5 stars Great Home Gym!   July 17, 2008

I recently put together the bowflex xceed and it took me about 3 hours but I was taking my time so I'm sure you can do it faster if you want to. I must say this is the best value buy there is. With all the stuff that this gym comes with you can't beat it. 310 lbs when most come with 210 which is 99.99 for the upgrade, an ab attachment that is 199.99 on the bowflex website, a lumbar pad which is 25 and the leg extention is 200.00 even tho most do come with the leg extention. Thus for 899 you can't beat it, the bottom of the line bowflex blaze is 899 now and only have 210lbs, and a leg extension.

As for the machine I love it so far. So quiet and so far it actually does work. I must say the resistance of 310 pounds is definitley not enough for me but I've been going to the gym for years and could usually max out at about 255 lbs on the bench press and I can pretty easily do the 310 lbs so with another upgrade to 410lbs I hope I'm good. Most other excercises tho the weight works just fine especially since your supposed to do the excercises slow and fight the resistance.

Switching the powerrods and pulleys to go from excercise to excercise is a little cumbersome but overall its not that big of a deal. In my opinion this is the best homegym out there because it is so versatile and can offer so many excerises. By far the Xceed is the BEST Deal out there.

this gym is put together really well can't take nothing from that it give's you all types of different way's to work your body out even an ab attachment 'wow' very easy to put together no more then a 1 and half to 2 hours set up
so easy. BUT THIS IS THE BIG PROBLEM IT'S SAY IT'S 310 LB OF RESISTANCE, WHEN I WAS IN THE BEST SHAPE F MY LIFE I COULD ONLY MAX OUT AT 260 LB BUT ON THE BOW-FLEX I'M MAXING OUT AT 310 LB. DON'T BUY THIS GYM FOR THE RESISTANCE, BECAUSE YOU WILL BE LOOKING FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE FOR THE 310 LB OF RESISTANCE. but it is a well put together home gym only and i mean only problem this bow-flex has is the 'RESISTANCE'. it's only about 180 lb of resistance.
